Nothing to Lose by Alex Flinn

Nothing to Lose is a book about a teenager whose parents are divorced, and his mom's fiance is abusive. She is bruised, and cant leave. Her boyfriend will beat her, so she is trapped. Michael is tired of this, and decides to leave the house himself. He runs away with a traveling carnival, and since one of the carnival's main policies is "no questions asked", he finds it as the perfect escape plan. But then, the carnival brings him back home, to Miami, to where everything started. His mother is on trial for murder, he's on the run from his problems, and he's not sure if it can stay that way for long. This book was as fast paced as the others. There were many action scenes, since Michael is running away. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters. For example, Michaels relations with another carny is very strong. They hang out alot, since they are with each other all the time. I also enjoyed the switch from past to present, since it gradually explained things as the book went along. This would be an important book because it would give alot of life lessons, such as don't run away from your problems, pick your battles, etc.
